“How do you see these trees? They are yellow. So, put in yellow; this shadow, rather blue, paint it with pure ultramarine; these red leaves? Put in vermilion.”

Paul Gauguin in 1888, a fauve.

like the art movement  i use bold chaotic colour.

I am a dyer/spindler/spinner/felter/knitter and crocheter.

i have been spinning for 2 years, felting a bit longer, knitting for 2 years and crocheting for 23, i have been dyeing with natural and chemical dyes for 16 years.

i am happy, manically and deliriously when i am dyeing & spinning,  like a sufi whirling to find their enlightenment i find an exalted space within fibre and a drug in the colours forming.

i dye using all the available sources of colour that i can find or finds me – inks, powder dyes, poison dyes, non poison dyes, plant dyes, microbial colour and ground pigments.

i love colour, love fibre, love the autumn.

let it be i say 😉
